Nestled in central Utah surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Wasatch Front is a new fellowship called Crossings Church. The Pastor and people of this fellowship have a vision....a big vision...that only God can accomplish, using ordinary people to do extra-ordinary things. The need here in Utah is great for Christian churches and Bible based teaching. People are hungry to know God personally, understand what He says about life, purpose and the abundant life He has promised us as we serve Him. NEWS FLASH! Crossings Church signed the papers and closed on the loan for the purchase of 5.25 acres in Benjamin, Utah!! This property is located at 1800 West 7300 South, has easy access from I-15 off the Benjamin Exit and can be seen from the freeway. We are excited as we move into the first stage of building our own church facility. Please keep us in your prayers!! Also pray about helping us financially as we continue to minister in Utah...
In 2006 Pastor Mickie Kelly and his family arrived in Utah to fulfill a call from the Lord to minister in southern Utah County. Mickie felt the intent and purpose was always to plant a new church in this area. After starting a Bible study group at their home, in only a few short months Crossings Church was established and started meeting in a rented facility, the Clarion Manor in Payson, Utah. The congregation grew quickly, but more importantly, there was definite spiritual growth among the people. New believers were coming to salvation and being discipled and many were baptized. Mature Christians began attending and found a closer walk with the Lord as a result of the Bible-based teaching and preaching that is the foundation of the ministry of this new fellowship.
The rented facility has been a blessing to this young church plant, but it cannot facilitate the kind of potential for ministry that Crossings Church is capable of providing to the surrounding communities.
The church is outgrowing the rented facility and there is no guarantee of how long Crossings will be allowed to continue to rent the building. In order to see continued growth, it is very apparent that a larger, permanent building is needed to secure the future of this dedicated fellowship, and would enable this ministry to reach many more simply by being a visible, permanent facility and fellowship that speaks to the community of the commitment and reliability of this ministry. The current weekly task of delivering and setting up the sound system, musical instruments, computer, screen, chairs, and other necessary equipment needed to conduct the Sunday services at the rented facility is time and labor intensive. The church is quickly finding the need for more classrooms and areas for the children's programs, youth activities, fellowship, and other events that can be planned through the week. A stage area would provide the opportunity to minister to the community through Christian drama, concerts, and productions.
As our available facility grows, so grows our congregation as well as an increased efficiency and ability to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the people of this area. We realize that planting a new Christian church in Utah is not an easy task, and we know we cannot do it alone. On the final day of Kid's Club, June 17, 2010, Crossings Church held a BIG TENT BLOCK PARTY with our friends from Kentucky on the property which will someday be home to our new church building. Approximately 125 people enjoyed good food, fellowship, music, and the word. The tent stayed up for the following Sunday and the congregation attended it's first church service on the property under the tent. It was good to put our feet on the ground that the Lord has blessed us with. Thank you to all those who are helping us purchase this land and build our church!
